Great location and vibe, super soft and comfortable bed, room was spacious with some chairs under the window, and the bathroom was great (walk in shower). Was really cool to stay at this pub, it’s along what I think is the main stretch of pubs/bars in Southampton so there are heaps of local eateries on the street which was very convenient (discount on a breakfast place across the street!). About a 5min to the bus stops, you can catch a bus straight to the main train station, and pretty much anywhere else in town. 15min walk to Seacity Museum if you’re interested! This specific pub has a small piece of the history linked to some of the Titanic crew, you can read about it at the museum and there is a silver plaque on the outside of the pub which gives you some more detail, cool to learn about! The staff were so lovely, showing us up to our room and even holding our luggage for us for 2 hours before check-in when we arrived early. If we come back to Southampton we will definitely be staying again!

Our room was a couple of floors above the pub so it was quiet. There was a low din from the pub and the street but it was more lulling than disruptive. However if you have zero tolerance for any sound whatsoever, you should probably stay elsewhere. We are not bar people, but we did go into the pub for a beer and soda to take with us back to the room. The pub was spectacular, the patrons kept bursting into songs that they’d sing loud but very much in tune with each other. It was wonderful, I’ve never seen anything like it and it is my best memory of England.

Fantastic stay! We stayed at The Grapes for one night before our cruise from Southampton docks and it was amazing. The staff are so friendly that we ended up staying there all day and night! The bed was so comfortable and the price was incredibly reasonable for the area. The location is fantastic on a quiet street lines with bars and restaurants with tables outside which we made use of with the weather. We are already talking about planning another trip to Southampton to stay here again.

Good location near the docks, walking distance to a good amount of food options and convenience stores. Definitely loud in the evenings, but it all packed up at a reasonable time and was nice background noise, in my opinion. Room was tidy and well set up relative to what I expected. Sheets were surprisingly soft. Didn't really bother us aside from having a large suitcase to carry, but the staircase up is quite narrow.

The location turned out to be perfect for us, as we were completing a mystery guide puzzle book about the Titanic and the final clue was actually in the pub, so our tour of Southampton couldn't have ended more conveniently. Tuesday night was free pool night, so we played pool all evening in the bar. The room was clean and very reasonably priced.
